Electrician Eastern Suburbs: LED Lighting for Christmas

‘Tis the season for trees, merriment, music, and of course, magical lights! As any electrician Eastern Suburbs knows who has ever been hired to install Christmas lights the older version of incandescent lights are rapidly being replaced with LED lights. Ever wonder why that is? Many say it is simply because they burn more efficiently and are not as grueling on the energy bill. While that may be true, there are several other great reasons to make the switch from the older version to LED.

Here are a few reasons for all tradies to keep in mind so that when a potential customer asks about the difference, you are ready with an educated and professional response.

Safety & Fire Concerns are a Thing of the Past

In years past the use of incandescent lights was a severe fire hazard when used on Christmas trees—especially when used on trees that are not properly watered. The bulb itself would heat the tree so severely it could cause a damaging fire. LED lights, however, are encased in a protective epoxy casing which does not heat up, therefore the potential to cause a fire is practically null.

Multi-Faceted Durability Level

Everyone has experienced the search for that one bulb on a string of lights that is blown out and is keeping the whole strand from lighting. That does not happen with LED lights. Not only does the strand still light if one is blown out, they can even withstand being accidently stepped on or not-so-accidentally improperly stored after the holiday season.

Ease in Decorating

Decorating has become significantly easier now that the LED lights have replaced the fragility of light bulbs. The use of LED lights has revolutionised lighting design for both indoors and outdoors. LED lights are in fact much more durable, cool burning, and longer-lasting. They’re not affected by moisture either, so they are safe to use near water.

Protecting the Environment

While including all of the reasons above, LED lights do not need to be replaced as often as the older incandescent lights. This means that bulbs and strands will not find themselves in garbage cans, landfills, and trash heaps across the globe.

There are so many reasons as to why LED lights are far surpassing the use of incandescent lights. These are only a few. However, they should provide you with enough to have an educated conversation with a potential customer who is considering having lights hung inside or out on their home. Make sure installing LED lights is part of your repertoire – as they are here to stay!
